Stray voltage a threat to humans as well as cows

Dairy farmers who feel they are plagued by stray voltage in their barns may finally get a break from provincial legislation. The phenomenon has been declared a threat to human health.

A bill in the Ontario legislature calling for a fine of up to $1,000 a day if a utility fails to act quickly on complaints about stray electricity passed second reading in October.

The issue came to the fore in the backbenches of the Liberal side of the House, but Ontario Energy Minister Dwight Duncan said he was happy to see the little-known question discussed, according to Canadian Press. There is no timetable for the bill to be made into law.BF
