renewal

if its going to be a year of renewal, and by next year it looks like we will have an entirely different and "new" pork board. lets start off this new board by electing an entirely new board of directors and break up this club of politicians and old boys and girls, most of whom have been there way too long.

The dilemma of it all

Given the hugely divisive nature of the points of view even among hog producers, not even the Minister will likely be able to save hog producers, and the industry, from themselves.

The larger issue is to decide whether government serves any useful purpose by being any part of the marketing of agricultural products at all. Given the huge costs of, and apparent futility of, recent FPMC hearings, and even the never-ending costs of regulating supply management, are the people of Ontario, and Canada, being well-served by government having any presence at all?
