In regards to the second last paragraph of the article, I agree that the APP program will lead to inflated land prices. To be clear, we cannot begrudge farmland investment corporations for treating land as investments when many farmers are guilty of that also.

The problem I have is with farmers and FIC's receiving interest free money. Or to put it simply, the APP would not be necessary at all if not for other policies that led to the inflation of farmland in the first place.

Surely if the NFU acknowledges these market distortions, they must also realize that SM is the most guilty of all when it comes to market distortions.

Since I plan to hold a signifigant amount of bank shares in my portfolio to fund my retirement, I don't want policies that will cut into my share appreciation or dividends.
