It's been more than two weeks but many growers remain disturbed about how the Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board handled the release of member information to a third party organization. And some continue to push the matter with Ontario's Privacy Commissioner.
The Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board's decision to provide a non-government organization with member information caused an uproar at the board's annual meeting in August. One producer has taken his concerns to Ontario's privacy commissioner. Another warns that other farm organizations better scrutinize how they handle private information. And the wheat board? It's meeting Thursday - in-camera - to further discuss the issue.
Farmers began harvesting their winter wheat on Monday in Essex County about week later than expected and it looks like that late start will apply to farmers in other parts of Ontario too.
