Agricorp is pleased to welcome two newly appointed board members: Rod Stork and Murray Porteous. The lieutenant governor-in-council appointed Stork and Porteous for three-year terms, which began earlier this year.
Both new board members bring a wealth of experience in Ontario’s agriculture industry and have significant involvement with a number of industry organizations, the agency said in a news release.
Porteous is a partner in Lingwood Farms Ltd., , 850-acre fruit and asparagus grower with $480,000-plus in annual sales located midway between Waterford and Simcoe in Norfolk County. He has had significant involvement with a number of industry organizations, including previous roles as chair of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers' Association, the Ontario Agricultural Commodity Council and the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario.
Rod Stock of Guelph spent more than 30 years with the Ontario ministry of agriculture, food and rural affairs (OMAFRA) during which time he has been chair of the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission and director of economic development. Following retirement, he served as part-time chair of the Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal. In 2008 and 2009, he facilitated the Grains and Oilseeds Working Group, which led to the formation of the Grain Farmers of Ontario.
As an agency of the Government of Ontario, Agricorp works with partners to support the agriculture industry by delivering provincial and federal government programs help producers manage risk and remain financially secure. BF
