A just–developed mobile application for iPhone and iPad devices will allow farmers to record field, crop and soil data and photos on the spot, instead of waiting until they get back to their home computers.
The FM Pro Mobile application was developed by Farm Credit Canada and, for $39.99, anyone using the most recent versions of Field Manager PRO and Field Manager PRO 360 can download it from the App Store.
“We’re getting a lot of positive interest,” said Glen Kroeker, the director of FCC management software. He said smartphones are a growing necessity for a farmer’s day-to-day work, and that the app is just a natural extension of the technology now available to food producers and agronomists.
It is the FCC’s first app for smartphones and tablets. The FCC is still developing the app for Android users. BF
