There will be some new faces around the Dairy Farmers of Ontario board table next year after elections for region directors were held in two areas recently.
In Region 8 (Oxford and Waterloo counties) Murray Sherk was elected after incumbent board member John Palmer didn’t seek re-election. Doug Matheson challenged him for the position. Palmer first joined the board in 2000.
Steven Runnalls was elected in Region 12 (districts of Northern Ontario and Haliburton). He ran against incumbent board member Frank Haasen, who first joined the board in 2008.
In Region 4 (Hastings, Lennox and Addington, Northumberland and Prince Edward counties), incumbent board member Sid Atkinson was acclaimed. He first joined the board in 2004.
The three board members will serve four-year terms starting in January 2012. If there isn’t a request for a recount, the board will declare the members elected at the November board meeting later this month. BF
