A new protocol for municipal drain maintenance, intended to keep lines of communication open between municipalities and conservation authorities, recommends the two bodies should meet at least once a year.
In a news release, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) says the protocol “provides a simplified and practical permissions process under the Conservation Authorities Act (CA) regulations for municipal drain maintenance and repair work performed under the Drainage Act.”
At its core, is a “Notification of Drain Maintenance or Repair” form intended to simplify the application process by using a single form for all permissions.
Training sessions for drainage superintendents and conservation authority staff are scheduled for Jan. 14 (Southwestern Ontario); Jan. 17 (Eastern Ontario); and Jan. 30 (Central Ontario). Online registration is available. BF
