Domino's commits to using only Canadian cheese

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

According to an October press release from Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Canadian arm of Domino's Pizza has decided to use only 100 per cent Canadian cheese on its menu items. Domino's Pizza of Canada, based in Leamington, Ont., is "the first national pizza company in Canada to have made this commitment."

The release goes on to say that "Domino's commitment will have a positive impact on the Canadian dairy industry, since the pizza company purchases over 4.8 million kilograms of cheese each year for use in its menu items." And since those mountains of cheese are now all-Canadian, Domino's pizza boxes sport the 100 per cent Canadian milk symbol.

Michael Curran, president of Domino's Pizza of Canada, said, "Domino's is a strong believer in fresh,
high-quality and local products and is a proud supporter of Canadian dairy farmers."

That doesn't mean that pizza is part of the 100-mile diet. BF
