A fish farm in Toronto? Friday, May 1, 2015 In the future, Torontonians may have a fish farm beneath their feet, the daily newspaper Metro reports.Beaches East-York MPP Arthur Potts hopes one day to build a fish farm in Toronto's east end, in a massive unused basement under the Crescent Town apartment complexes near Victoria Park Station. He told Metro that a food co-op would have an "amazing" impact on the community and that the currently empty retail space "just isn't a good social engineering force."If built, the farm would be located in a larger bottom level with 12-foot ceilings, 9,000 square feet of space and a second underground level with separate rooms. While aspects of the idea still need to be fleshed out, Potts told Metro that the general idea would be to "grow food on the bottom level, process food on the middle level and then sell food on the upper level."
