It's my pleasure to inform Better Farming readers that the doors were officially opened to the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame's new gallery in Guelph on Friday, April 29.

Local dignitaries, past inductees, and other friends of Ontario's agriculture, agri-food and rural sectors joined together in celebration at the Ontario AgriCentre on Stone Road for an open house and reception.

Over 75 visitors were welcomed to the wine and cheese reception and invited to view the new gallery's display featuring the seven current inductees, along with 20 previous inductees' portraits and citations. Many tried out the electronic kiosk where they were able to search and instantly find any of the 210 inductees.  Instructions for viewing all other original citations and artwork now preserved in the University of Guelph's archives were provided.

In his welcoming remarks, OAHF President Barry Fraser shared that the association's board was very excited to now call Guelph home, for the gallery. "The Ontario AgriCentre here in Guelph is a high profile, professional home for agriculture organizations and related companies," said Fraser.

Rob Hannam, President of the Ontario AgriCentre commented, "The Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame (OAHF) gallery is a perfect fit for the Ontario AgriCentre which is home to many leading agricultural organizations and agribusinesses. We are very pleased that the Hall of Fame now resides here in Guelph."

This year five leaders will be inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 12 in the Gambrel Barn at Country Heritage Park in Milton. Tickets are now available for the induction ceremony on the website at www.oahf.on.ca.
