Gas well owners form association Friday, February 1, 2008 Coping with orders to plug abandoned wells or wells that don’t comply with current guidelines issued by inspectors from the Ministry of Natural Resources Petroleum Resources Centre was one motivation behind these meetings.Along with providing a voice for the province's private gas well owners, the association establishes a network for well owners, offers information about applicable rules and regulations and assists owners in dealing with these.The association will also promote the safe operation of private gas wells and identify and manage issues dealing with the wells.Brian Heaslip of Wellandport is the chair while Pat Mousseau is the association’s secretary. Mousseau can be reached at 905-772-3406.More than 50,000 gas wells have been drilled in Ontario since 1858. Most are located in Haldimand-Norfolk and Niagara.
