According to San Francisco Weekly, that city has fewer vegetarians and vegans per capita than the United States as a whole, and more fast food junkies. More surprising, normally trendsetting San Francisco fell behind not only New York and Los Angeles but, surprise, surprise, also behind Atlanta, Cleveland, Chicago and (a horror to Texas ranchers)Dallas. Consumers were asked to list themselves under nine titles, including labels such as locavores. San Francisco was fourth of 20 cities in self-described "fast food junkies." A blog in the online publication entitled SFoodie sported the headline "SF vegans are more loud than numerous." On the same web page the second item under Most Popular Stories was San Francisco's Top 25 Burgers. None of them would have pleased a vegetarian.
