'Natural' beef farm goes corporate Thursday, April 4, 2013 Beretta Farms, the organic and natural product beef operation that struggled when located in Huron County, and flourished when it moved to the Toronto area in time to cash in on the "buy local" scene, has been purchased by One Earth Farms, a subsidiary of Sprott Resource Corp. Beretta Farms founder Mike Beretta in turn became the chief operating officer of One Earth, which operates "a series of cattle and grain/oilseed farms across the Prairie provinces of Canada to support the One Earth Farms' goal of ensuring absolute food traceability from the farm to the consumers' fork," according to a Sprott announcement. Sprott, which describes itself as a natural resources company, trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In the announcement, Mike Beretta and his wife Cynthia expect to remain closely associated with the farm, located in rolling grasslands in King Township north of the city.
