New protocol for municipal drain maintenance Monday, January 7, 2013 by BETTER FARMING STAFFA new protocol for municipal drain maintenance, intended to keep lines of communication open between municipalities and conservation authorities, recommends the two bodies should meet at least once a year.In a news release, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) says the protocol “provides a simplified and practical permissions process under the Conservation Authorities Act (CA) regulations for municipal drain maintenance and repair work performed under the Drainage Act.”At its core, is a “Notification of Drain Maintenance or Repair” form intended to simplify the application process by using a single form for all permissions.Training sessions for drainage superintendents and conservation authority staff are scheduled for Jan. 14 (Southwestern Ontario); Jan. 17 (Eastern Ontario); and Jan. 30 (Central Ontario).
