Tesswater-are chicken farmer Adrian Rehorst has been elected as first vice-chair of Chicken Farmers of Canada for this year.
Rehorst and his family farm about 20 kilometres from Lake Huron and he represents the farmers in that area of Region 1 on the board of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. He has spent more than 30 years in the industry and has previously been an alternate to the Chicken Farmers of Canada board. He has also served as a member of the organization’s food safety committee.
Rehorst and his wife, Lisette, raise more than 400,000 kilograms of chicken annually, have 1,500 acres of cash crops and a 55-head cow-calf operation.
Other members of the executive committee are: British Columbia farmer Dave Janzen, who is the new chair of Chicken Farmers of Canada; Martin Dufresne of Quebec, who was re-elected as second vice-chair; and Yvon Cyr of New Brunswick, who is the new member-at-large. BF
