Dairy Farmers of Ontario vice-chair loses re-election Monday, November 18, 2013 by SUSAN MANN A Dairy Farmers of Ontario board member who has served for the past seven years failed in his re-election bid for Region 10 (Huron/Perth). David Murray, who is the board’s first vice chair this year and has been on the board since 2006, lost to top vote getter Henry Wydeven. The other contender for the position was John Van Dyk. Graham Lloyd, Dairy Farmers general counsel and communications director, says the results haven’t been formalized yet because they are waiting to see if there will be a recount request. The board also still has to confirm the results at its board meeting at the end of this month. In two other regions, board members were acclaimed. Nick Thurler is the new board member for Region 2 (Dundas, Stormont and Ottawa-Carleton, except for the Township of Cumberland). He replaces Norma Winters. Ian Harrop is returning as the board member for Region 6 (Dufferin, Peel, Simcoe and Wellington). He is the board’s current second vice chair. The acclaimed and elected members will be starting their four-year terms Jan. 9, 2014 at the end of the Dairy Farmers annual meeting.
