Ontario’s wheat plantings lag behind intentions

Ontario farmers planted 460,000 acres of wheat by Nov. 1, well below their intentions of 800,000 acres for this year

"There’s no insurance coverage if the wheat planted after the planting deadline is killed by winter weather."

If a Grains and Oilseed farmer wants RMP then insurance is mandatory. But if the crop is planted late, Agricorp does not insure for winterkill but will take the premiums.

RMP is suppose to be a insurance plan but is really only a advance.

Farmers paying 2 insurance premiums but is covered for zilch.
