Customer appreciation has rarely tasted so good. Pioneer Hi-Bred Ltd.’s tent at the recent Canada's Outdoor Farm Show near Woodstock was especially popular because the company was giving away free pie and coffee.
Pioneer Hi-Bred’s communications manager, Tara Moir, said they gave away 6,400 pieces of pie over the three-day event, or more than 1,000 pies.
“It was a huge success and a great opportunity to say thank you to our customers,” Moir said.
Pioneer got the pies from Anna Mae’s Bakery and Restaurant in Millbank. The most popular flavour, Moir said, was elderberry but they also served apple, cherry, raspberry and pecan.
This year’s attendance at the Outdoor Farm Show has not been tabulated, but last year more than 39,000 attended so it’s clear that a lot of farmers missed out on the pie. BF
Update:
Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, held Sept. 13-15, drew 42,600 visitors this year. The show also featured 723 exhibitors, up from 715 in 2010. BF
