Spill stats draw Huron farmers' ire

Farmers are livid at a report in a Lake Huron resort town newspaper they say blames agriculture for thousands of manure spills every year and most of the fish kills in the province. It's a black eye for agriculture and it's false, says Zurich area farmer Joe Vermunt, a director of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.

Went to the beach in Camlachie today. The beach is compltely covered in straw, thick mats of algae and a thick black water like substance at the shoreline. It is as clear as day that this came from a cottage septic system. Wake-up before farming kills Huron the way it killed Erie an Winnipeg.
