All of this busy-ness on the part of DFO is, alas, little more than "re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" in an attempt to avoid the real issue - how long this pampered world will last, or even can last, given that Ontario retail milk prices currently are, even by DFO's own admission, some 38% higher than US retail milk prices.

What's the sense of having DFO review and check everything about the dairy business, but fail to do a "reality check" when it comes to the ultimate fantasyland in which Ontario's dairy industry exists?

Losing sight of the consumer, and ignoring what your competitors are doing in neighbouring jurisdictions, are two of the biggest mistakes any business can make, yet DFO seems to be extremely proud of having done both for its entire existence.

It all makes no sense, but I guess that's why I'm not a dairy farmer.

Stephen Thompson, Clinton ON

Every time I hear one of DFO's new "initiatives" it makes me glad once again that I quit milking.

We when to the states 2 weeks ago to look around bought some curd , the taste was terrible. Ontario curd and Quebec curds wins in both cases.,price wise dairy products we seen down there was around the same price some higher and lower depends on if it was on sale. We quit milking cows in ont. a few years ago ,glad we did . Canada has better quaility than the states in dairy products thanks to the board and farmers get better money for their milk as long as they stop from getting to greedy.
