Its not that Costco or Walmart want to buy from Gray, they have no choice. This story would most likely not even exist if the egg industry operated in a free market environment. The free market is not always perfect, but when an industry has a monopoly on its market it just invites corruption. For example, in a free market if only a few contolled the market and started increasing prices and or "cheating on egg grading" to a level deemed too high, then new players would see profit potential, and enter the business and the competition would force prices down. That does not happen and cannot happen in a monopoly or cartel. Raube Beuerman, Dublin, ON
