Winery plans production expansion Monday, January 3, 2011 by BETTER FARMING STAFFA Niagara Escarpment winery is the most recent recipient of a federal loan to help boost its production. Peninsula Ridge Estates Winery will use the money, $97,000 under the federal AgriProcessing initiative, to buy and install a new high-speed bottling and labelling line to double its capacity. According to the company’s website, it grows more than 80 acres of grapes near Beamsville and maintains long-term contracts with other growers. In a federal news release Norm Beal, the company’s president, states that the funding “will have a significant impact on our ability to achieve major improvements to food safety, productivity and competitiveness.” Beal could not be immediately reached for comment.
