There’s a new face at the helm of Dairy Farmers of Ontario.
Bill Emmott was elected chair of the provincial dairy organization at a board meeting Jan. 15.
Emmott has been a member of the organization’s board since 1999 and served as vice-chair since Jan. 2005.
Emmott lists several priorities for the coming year, including: monitoring World Trade Organization negotiations and quota values, building a new lab to streamline milk testing and establishing a milk quality certification program.
The Brantford area farmer replaces outgoing chair Bruce Saunders. The former chairman, from Holland Centre in Grey County, could not be immediately reached for comment.
During the board meeting Ron Versteeg, from Cumberland, east of Ottawa, and John Palmer, from Norwich, in Oxford County, were elected vice-chairs. BF
